Arne Slot Maintains He Is Secure and Retains The Club's Support After PSV Eindhoven Defeat

Arne Slot admitted that it's natural for questions to be asked about his future following a further convincing defeat versus PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool suffered their 9th defeat in 12 matches, marking the team's poorest streak after being relegated in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie champions on a punishing night at Anfield.

“I'm confident, I am OK, I've received plenty of backing from management,” Slot commented.

“It would be great to change things and get a victory naturally but if you are coaching a team and struggling then it's expected that doubts arise.”

He added, “I'm comfortable with my role. It is not the first time I’ve been in a difficult position but it is about time that we changed our fortunes.”

Discussions with The Board

Upon being questioned to elaborate on his discussions with the team officials, Slot revealed:

“There's regular dialogue. They are supportive to the team and for me and we have those conversations but they don’t call me all the time each day to say they trust me.”

He mentioned, “Through standard discussions I feel the confidence. But I've not talked to them after this defeat so far so it remains to be seen.”

Recurring Failings and Player Reaction

The manager lamented familiar shortcomings from his team in their Champions League defeat, specifically missed opportunities and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was more forthright in his view of the club’s predicament.

“I don’t have the answers. Truthfully, I don’t. I'm telling that to everyone,” Jones remarked.

“It's simply not good enough. I don't have to wait to reflect. I’m past feeling anger internally. I’m at the point currently where I just don’t have the words.”

He added, “It's tough because I play for the club I love. I’m a fan, and I’ve seen this club all my life.”

“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Reds side going through a phase such as this with results like these.”

He stated, “However we continue to wear that badge on our chest. And until it is taken away, we'll continue to fight.”

“Our aim is to help the side return to its rightful place, prove again the values of this club and why people call it the best team in the world.”

“However currently, we’re in the shit and we have to turn it around.”
