Arteta Warns Fitness Crisis Could Hinder The Gunners' Trophy Quest
Mikel Arteta has voiced fears that his team's pursuit for honors this campaign is being jeopardized by a concerning cycle of injuries and a relentless fixture list.

There was, however, positive news regarding Gabriel Jesus, with the South American forward registered to their Champions League squad. He replaces the hurt youngster Max Dowman, who picked up an ankle problem.

Long-Term Absences

Arteta dismissed the suggestion that training intensity were to blame, citing a shortage of time for drills. He highlighted the pressure on fit players, some of whom have featured over 150 matches in two years.
Recruitment Plans
Even after a significant off-season spend over £250 million, Arteta insisted the club is unlikely looking to dip into the January transfer market.
"At the moment we're just focusing on getting the players back and hopefully it will be a matter of a short time," he commented. "We know how important those weeks are going to be."
Looking Ahead
The team suffered their initial loss in 18 matches at the hands of Aston Villa, cutting their lead at the summit of the league to two points.
Attention now shifts to the Champions League, where a sixth group-stage win would all but guarantee a knockout phase finish. Winger Gabriel Martinelli could create history by scoring in a fifth consecutive Champions League match.
"We are frustrated with the outcome, but we have to move forward," he stated. "This isn't like all is going badly because we lost one game. So we stick together."
