Devoted fans of the pop star are demanding that a individual who breached a barrier and touched the actress during yesterday's Wicked: For Good premiere be taken into custody or expelled from Singapore.
A circulating video depicts the person identified as Johnson Wen shoving aside media personnel and charging at Grande while the actors proceeded down a promenade surrounded by supporters.
Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo immediately wrested the stunned performer away from Mr Wen, who was spotted being escorted out of the premiere by event staff.
Mr Wen posted on Instagram recently that he was "let go after being detained", though court documents revealed that he was scheduled to appear on the next day. It is uncertain if he was faced legal action.
This is part of a pattern for Mr Wen, who describes himself as a "Controversial Figure", has crashed a celebrity gathering. His Instagram account includes recordings of him interrupting other star-studded functions, including rushing the platform at Katy Perry's Sydney show in recently and in a similar way during The Chainsmokers event in the city last winter.
"Measures must be taken taken against him as this is obviously a punishable act," stated an Instagram follower, in a message to a video Mr Wen uploaded of his actions.
"Oh wow so you do this a lot... how aren't you in jail?" a different Instagram user questioned.
Numerous followers accused Mr Wen for "causing further distress" Grande, who had spoken of dealing with PTSD after a devastating incident at the end of her spring 2017 performance in Manchester, claiming the lives of 22 people and harming many.
"After everything she's faced... including the Manchester attack, you considered it entertaining to rush the barrier?" wrote a further response on Instagram.
A number of supporters also questioned guards at the gathering for not being vigilant enough; while others called for social media platforms to ban Mr Wen's uploads.
In footage spreading on the internet, Grande seemed surprised when she was touched by the intruder. Her cast members Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be spotted consoling her while Mr Wen was led out by guards.
Grande has not commented on the incident, and the rest of the event proceeded as normal.
Many of attendees had assembled in a crowd of green and pink at the Wicked: For Good regional launch in a Singapore shopping center, including a number who had stood in line for as long as eight hours before it commenced.
The film, to be premiered on 21 November, is the sequel of a two-part interpretation of the popular stage show Wicked, which revolves around the surprising relationship between two very different witches.
The musical itself is a adaptation of the 1900 book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who portrays the benevolent sorceress Glinda, was adorned in a champagne pink sequin dress at the gathering while Erivo, who portrays the wicked witch, wore a sleek black dress featuring roses.
They were alongside co-star Jeff Goldblum.
The first movie, Wicked, was the top-earning film of last year in the UK, and scored ten Academy Award nods, securing two for outstanding attire and artistic direction.
