Former Physician Accused of Assault Allegations Against Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care

Prosecutors have announced that a ex- doctor stands accused of carrying out assaults involving 38 victims who were under his care.

The Grave Allegations

Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with numerous acts of sexual assault – comprising some against children younger than 13 – between 2017 to 2021.

A deputy chief prosecutor said, “Legal teams have worked at length to support a thorough and intricate investigation, meticulously examining the available evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”

The Police Inquiry

These allegations come after what investigators called a “detailed inquiry” into reported sexual offences at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and a facility in Dudley.

Spencer will appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.

Breakdown of Offences

Prosecutors outline the 45 charges he is charged with:

  • 15 counts of sexual assault.
  • 17 counts of assault by penetration.
  • 9 counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
  • Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
  • One count of attempting to assault by penetration.
