Indeed, it's Packed with Gibberish, Extreme Hosting and Psychobabble. But I Do Adore Meghan's Christmas Special.

No matter the season, it's constantly hunting season for criticism on the Meghan Markle's Netflix series, With Love, Meghan. Commentators, both professional and armchair, have rarely been so united as when eagerly tearing the series' initial installments apart. The general consensus seemed to be a bigger monarchy-related faux pas had seldom occurred than the notorious snack re-labeling incident.

Presently, as a festive rebel, she makes a comeback for another round with a "Christmas Special" (or a Christmas special). But this time, it's different. The usual elements viewers are accustomed to – vague self-help platitudes, extreme hosting – remain, but framed of a Christmas special, suddenly it all makes sense. The puzzle has come into place; it's a ideal seasonal storm.

Now, Meghan has become the eccentric aunt at the typical holiday get-together – dispensing random tips, and supplying the periodic peculiar declaration. ("I love spinach!" … "A tradition has to have a beginning." … "A tree is part of my memory and love of the holiday season.") She's an interesting figure, but her aura is known and oddly reassuring. And she appears happy enough; she's inflicting any harm.

She is aware her every micro expression, word and gaze will be picked apart and judged, but manages to seem carefree and serenely untroubled.

Perhaps this is the initial instance in history where that clichéd phrase – "Don't listen, it's pure jealousy" – could actually be true. Because, in all honesty, all aspects in Meghan's Holiday Celebration is charming. Admittedly, it's all cringily ultra-extra, nonsense and extravagant – but is that not exactly what the holiday season is all about? And the advice she gives might be laughable, but the life she leads seems authentically beautifully curated.

Anything she sets her mind to, she executes with panache. Her culinary efforts looks delicious, the wreath she crafts is gorgeous, her presents are almost too pretty to unwrap. Nothing is average or aesthetically displeasing – even the way she secures her kitchen garment is creative and fashionable. She doesn't throw a meal in the oven, it "has a moment", and she wraps wrapping paper like an paper-folding expert. She also seems to be completely savoring herself throughout. How could any hate-watcher not be won over, overcome by seasonal cheer and left with a deep longing for personalized Christmas crackers or a crudites platter where broccoli is arranged in the shape of a festive circle?

Meghan had a career in acting for a living, obviously, but even so, after the level of attention she has weathered since she became involved with Prince Harry, the love child of acting royalty would find it hard to appear this authentically. Her unwillingness to change or even moderate her persona, regardless of it being so relentlessly, globally mocked, is weirdly comforting. In our volatile world, here is one thing we can rely on: Meghan will stay true to form, no matter what. We will always know where we are with her.

If you're not yet convinced by her brand, a reminder that will surely come as a reassurance: you don't have to. There isn't the draft anymore, and were it to return, it would be doubtful to include watching With Love, Meghan: Holiday Celebration. If, however, you decide to tune in and are consumed by envy about her picture-perfect Christmas, there is hope either. Be you a duchess or a data administrator, no kid fully understands the time and energy their parent puts in in the holiday season. So you can console yourself by envisioning her children's faces when they reveal a beautifully scripted letter that says, 'I love you because you are brave,' from a homemade Advent calendar, rather than a sweet treat.
