Latest Refinery Assault Demonstrates 'Absolutely No Safe Areas in the Russian Far Hinterland'

Ukraine's UAVs have targeted Russia's oil facility in Ufa, located around 1,400 kilometres from Ukraine, triggering blasts and a fire, as reported by a source in the Ukrainian Security Service.

Russian attacks on Ukrainian territory claimed the lives of five people on the weekend and disrupted electricity to areas of the southern Odesa area, as stated by Ukrainian officials.

Two people died inside a place of worship in Kostyantynivka when it was struck, as reported by regional officials.

In Russia's frontier area of the Belgorod region, a vehicle operator was fatally wounded by a Ukrainian strike, according to municipal sources.

Energy Restoration Operations in Kyiv

Operations continued on the weekend to restore power in the Ukrainian capital, after assaults.

Energy had been returned to over 800,000 citizens by Saturday and the largest power firm said the key efforts to recover electricity was finished though some outages persisted.

Air Defence Operations and Drone Downings

The Ukrainian defense forces intercepted or jammed 54 of 78 total Russian drones sent against Ukraine overnight, the aerial defense command said on Saturday.

The Russian defense officials said it intercepted forty-two UAVs from Ukraine over its own soil.

Cuban Government Denies Claims of Deploying Soldiers to the War

The Cuban government on the weekend refuted US allegations it has provided military personnel to fight in the hostilities, while declaring officials in Havana "are without accurate data about citizens of Cuba" participating "voluntarily" or "as part of the armed units of either party".

The foreign ministry in Havana said 26 Cuban citizens had been sentenced to prison terms varying between five up to fourteen years for mercenary activity since the autumn of 2023 when reports emerged of Cuban nationals being sent to the battlefield in the conflict.

The program, a official Kyiv program that encourages adversaries to lay down arms, reported in spring: "We reliably know the names and personal details of 1,028 individuals who entered into agreements with the Moscow's troops in recently."

The government in Havana said of Cubans who might be involved: "It is irrefutable that not a single one have the support, dedication, or consent of the Cuban state for their actions."

Family members of Cubans who traveled to Russia in 2023 informed news outlets at the time that their family members had been deceptively recruited through advertisements on digital networks.
