The Incident

The striker was dropped from a key Champions League match subsequent to voicing frustrations and claiming his rapport with Arne Slot had broken down.

“Salah is an individual and he can say his own stuff,” Jones revealed. “He apologised to us and was like: ‘If I’ve affected anybody, I apologise.’”

The head coach has chosen not to disclose on whether he was apologised to from the 33-year-old forward.

Team Unity

Jones insisted that the squad's reaction remained positive. “He was his usual self, he was smiling and it was business as usual,” he continued.

Jones also suggested that a teammate fighting for a place is preferable. “I understand there are certain ways you can go about things,” he said. “However, if a player is content to just be on the bench, then I think that’s concerning.”

Positive Results

The team's performance have been impressive in the matches since the interview fallout. The player is convinced the Salah's words were not intended to harm the team.

“In moments of frustration, it has consistently come from a desire to win,” the midfielder stated. “That chapter is closed and we’re building chemistry, playing well and starting to win games.”
