PSG Overcomes Olympique de Marseille in a Shootout to Claim French Super Cup in Kuwait.

PSG players celebrating

The Parisian club has now claimed the prestigious cup on fourteen separate times.

Paris Saint-Germain needed a stoppage-time equaliser followed by a perfect spot-kick decider to get past their arch-rivals in Kuwait and secure a record-extending fourth consecutive French Super Cup victory.

The European champions seemed to be sailing towards a comfortable triumph in the showdown featuring the French league champions and the French Cup holders after Ousmane Dembele found the scoring in the opening stages.

However, Marseille struck two times in the closing moments to seize a surprise lead. First, Mason Greenwood scored from the penalty spot, before the defender inadvertently turned the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a remarkable twist of fortune, Goncalo Ramos snatched a vital leveler in the dying seconds to force the contest into a penalty shootout. PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier then stood as the hero, saving decisive kicks from O'Riley and Traore.

From the spot, Goncalo Ramos, Vitinha, the full-back, and the young talent all converted successfully for PSG to seal a convincing shootout victory.

Now 14-time champions PSG, who met last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Olympique de Marseille after completing a domestic double, have now lifted this competition for the twelfth time in the last thirteen seasons.
